6/04/10  Yep -- and I can't wait!

Yesterday, I wrote
Faux Investigation about that farce we saw on TV with the 1st Assistant DA Terri Moore standing next to that ambulance chaser who that Democrat Criminal Judge appointed as "special prosecutor" to look into claims made by some unknown claiming to have knowledge of a scheme to bring down the Bail Bondsman.

I guess it's an oxymoron "a scheme to bring down the Bail Bondsman".  How can you get further down on the social scale than being a bail bondsman?

Today, I was totally vindicated by Kevin Krause's excellent investigative reporting.

The man who claims that Dallas County?s constable investigator was behind a plot to concoct lies about District Attorney Craig Watkins is currently in jail facing numerous felony charges.

Information from Gale Corbett Hutchinson, 44, who has a lengthy criminal history, led Watkins to hand off his constable investigation to a special prosecutor. The DA?s Office said it asked for an outside prosecutor since Watkins is an apparent victim of the alleged scheme to drive him from office.

Hutchinson, of Allen, is being held in the Collin County jail on numerous felony charges including making false statements for property credit, credit card abuse, theft and impersonating a lawyer.

Ted B. Lyon, a Mesquite personal injury attorney and former Democratic state legislator, was asked by the district attorney's office to take over its constable investigation. A state district judge appointed Lyon on Wednesday.

Lyon is also charged with looking into the allegations from Hutchinson regarding Danny Defenbaugh, the investigator hired last year by county commissioners to look into the employment practices of Constables Jaime Cortes and Derick Evans.

Cortes said Hutchinson claimed that Defenbaugh instructed him to ?make things up about myself and DA?s office.?

... Defenbaugh, a former FBI agent, said Hutchinson reached out to him in about March or April with information he said he had about Cortes that was damaging. Defenbaugh said his investigation for the county was done at the time and that he referred Hutchinson to the FBI. Hutchinson, he said, was hoping to cut a deal.

?He was running from the law and wanted to keep from going to jail,? he said.

... First Assistant District Attorney Terri Moore offered no details of the alleged scheme when she announced the special prosecutor appointment on Wednesday.

?It's about lying, scheming and conniving,? she said. ...

Oh, it's about "lying, scheming and conniving" alright.  It's just that the "lying, scheming and conniving" was coming from the DA's office and from Constable Cortes and the wacko they dug up to jack with Danny Defenbaugh.   If I were a Democrat, this would be hugely embarrassing.  Since I am an open Republican, this is hugely hysterical -- to a point.

Politically, it is funny.  However, you must keep in mind that we have just had a demonstration of the complete incompetence of several people who are in power thanks to people who vote straight ticket.  We have a Criminal District Judge who fell for claims from a guy who is sitting in Collin County's jail.  We have the DA's 1st Assistant who not only bought the guy's claims, but made a complete fool of herself.  These two people are supposed to get justice for victims?  I am not sure either Judge Don Adams or Terri Moore have the common sense or intelligence needed for their respective jobs.

So, it is not so funny.  It is criminal.

I can believe that Craig Watkins was fooled by this Hutchinson guy because Craig Watkins is an absolute moron.  I don't know much about Ted Lyon, other than he had a reputation in the Legislature as not someone you could trust.  He's a personal injury lawyer who has donated to Watkins' campaign.  This is a criminal matter, and nothing has been mentioned about his expertise in criminal matters.  If he signed on to this runaway train, he must have been taken in by Hutchinson, too.  If Democrat Criminal Judge Don Adams was taken in by Hutchinson, he's not any smarter than Lyon or Watkins.  More likely, he's just another partisan hack.

So, it is funny in a very dark way.

All of these incompetent partisan hacks got taken in by a wacko.  Why didn't any of them investigate the guy?  Do you know who found him in the Collin County Jail?  It was not the DA's office, or the Democrat Criminal Judge or the Democrat Special Prosecutor.  It was Ace Reporter Kevin Krause.

It made no sense for him not to be there at the press conference.  None of this makes sense.

That's because it wasn't supposed to make sense.  It was intended to be a distraction.  Since the DA's office did such a poor job checking out Hutchinson's background and criminal record, we can be certain that there has been NO INVESTIGATION into the Constable corruption.

It is time for Attorney General Greg Abbott to get involved.  It is clear that Craig Watkins used the power of his office to distract an investigation into two corrupt constables, whose activities apparently involve other politicians.
