6/15/9 Stepping Out of the Shadows
Just wanted to let you know I've stepped out of the shadows to attend the
Bolton Hearings. Small room with the County attorneys/officials, Bolton's
Team/entourage, the media and me.
I've been sending highlights of the testimony to the DeKalb Officers Blog, and they now refer to me as their reporter. It is pretty clear that everyone in the room knows I'm the Blog's reporter. Bolton gave me one of his famous smiles that also says if he ever gets another badge I might never see the light of day. He probably thinks I know who's behind the Blog. Unfortunately, I don't. If I did, I'd buy them a round of drinks...maybe 3 or 4. They deserve that much after putting up with Bolton for 2+ years.
Thursday, our ex-CEO Vernon Jones (hired Bolton) made a guest appearance to testify, adding to the circus environment. Vernon's attorney wore dark
sunglasses inside (shades were drawn). When Vernon's cross
examination began and the topic made him uncomfortable, he asked for a
break. He bolted out of the room holding his throat (like something was
wrong) ... right! Maybe the truth was about to fly out of his mouth. His
attorney followed. The County Attorney followed shortly after feeling that
something was amiss. Just unbelievable behavior. Freaks do tend to
flock together, don't they?
Bolton testified Friday. It was exhausting. His lawyer would ask him a
question, and he would go on and on and on (like Vernon). In fact,
several times he revealed information he shouldn't have trying to defend
himself. Dumb!
I'm not sure if we are going to post anything on Bolton since we had to wrap up at Noon today, and Bolton was not cross-examined by the County. However, there should be some great media coverage that gets posted on the Blog today. DeKalb Officers Blog I am concerned that Bolton's team might try to use it against the County if half of his testimony is released before he is cross-examined and before rebuttal witnesses have their say. At this point, half the witnesses will probably need to be called back as rebuttal witnesses based on Bolton's testimony on Friday. Oh, the contradictions and lies... Anyway, I've been thinking about you over the past several days. You have been a great role model for me in many ways, and just wanted to let you know it feels good to step out of the shadows and confront the men who made a mess of our county.
By the way, any idea how long it takes to check your blood sugar? If your
are Bolton and sitting in front of 5 TV cameras, it takes no less than 5
minutes to check your blood, then prepare the shot of insulin, start to
inject your belly and suddenly look up to realize you're on camera and then
turn away as if to have some privacy.
Not sure how I've remained professional around him the past few days. Here is a link to the news clip showing Bolton's insulin shot for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks again for all your help through this process and for being such a
great (and humorous) role model.
