House Bill 1516
3/01/09 |
|
David Tuthill |
Dear Representative Carol Kent:
Your recent email
to me advises about your support of House Bill 1516,
which would allow a property tax increase of an extra
4?
per $100 dollar valuation for our school districts.
An increase in our property tax bills is NOT
deserved!
NOT with the Dallas County
Appraisal District
(DCAD) continually raising property values,
despite a down turn in the housing market.
NOT with the gross mismanagement of the
Dallas Independent School District (DISD),
and the historical scandals that never seem to end.
Even with the scandals and gross mismanagement,
DISD school trustees deemed it necessary to extend their terms (with support
with Senator Royce West) from 3 years to 4 years which
protects 3 trustees from having to run for reelection
this May! This means no accountability
after:

until after $1.35 Billion
dollar bond proposal election |
After all this and more,
they reward themselves and avoid accountability
by canceling the taxpayers' voice in their continued
tenure on the DISD board! The taxpayers pay for
this mess with their property taxes.
They claim their self-serving actions have been
for the good of the students. They hide behind
the school children like terrorists hide amongst their
victims while they continue their bad acts.
What have we seen from our state elected officials on this long going mess?
Not much! They watch much like Nero playing his lyre while Rome
burned.
What will it take to get the DISD under control and
responsibly managed (and living with in their means much like most of the
responsible electorate)?
House Bill 1516 unjustly rewards the DISD school administration for their
shenanigans. Anyone supporting extra tax dollars
(especially in an economic downturn) is either out of
touch with their constituents or lives in a different world from the rest of us.
Some of our State Representatives
and Senators want to tax us out
of our homes to support the wanton spending of local governments who lobby them
with our tax dollars.
